The majority of the definitions of “terrorism” I’ve ever heard do not significantly differentiate 9/11 from the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
They also don’t significantly differentiate environmentalist extremists setting fire to a CEO’s house from a corporation polluting a poor country’s water supply to create the political instability needed to buy up their coveted resources and privatize their infrastructure for next to nothing.
Fighting terror with terror is like fighting fire with fire—all you get is more fire. We shouldn’t be the world’s policeman. Everyone should be the world’s fire extinguishers.
Bob Ross’ show The Joy Of Painting has always brought a sense of calm and serenity to the mad world in which I live. I can’t paint a stroke, but watching this man create beautiful scenery while listening to his soothing voice is gift enough for me.
